The famous Paestum can be reached in just over half an hour, while you can get to Velia also on foot.
Velia, famous for the Eleatic philosophical school and the Porta Rosa (Pink Door), one of the earliest examples of round arches, is an interesting site, leading up to the acropolis overlooking the gulf.
